Each Day in Life is History
The Rise and Fall – Beginnings

Here we are - at the beginning. A scary place. A dark, uncertain,
scary place. Will something be asked of us? Why did we come here?
Was it out of curiosity? An obligation maybe? Some strange urge?
Was it outer force or inner hope? Were we hoping to enjoy ourselves?
What do we know of the beginning? Where shall we begin?

“The Rise and Fall” describes a development trajectory of certain historical
events, ideas or people such as „The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire“,
„The Rise and Fall of the VHS tape”, „The Rise and Fall of Hosni Mubarak“.
But the words rising and falling can also be used to describe more mundane
actions such as „rising out of bed in the morning“ or „falling into bed at night“.
In this sense every day in our lives can be thought of as an historical event.
Stories, histories shape the past, they help us make sense of the present but
they also tell of forgotten dreams and visions, utopias for the future.
What makes a moment historical? When did the present moment begin?
